What a video editor in Dubai can do with existing footage, and what cannot be fixed
Most companies in Dubai are sitting on more footage than they will ever use. A conference filmed by the venue's crew, two years of phone clips from the marketing team, a brand film from 2022 with a logo that has since changed, forty podcast episodes on a hard drive. All of that is usable. Footage from different cameras can be matched in the grade so it cuts together. Shaky handheld can be stabilised within limits. Mixed office lighting, green fluorescent against a blue window, can be corrected. A three-minute film can become a sixty-second cut and three verticals. Old titles can be replaced, and a new voiceover, quoted separately, can be laid over an existing edit.
Some things cannot be fixed, and it is better to hear that before paying for an edit. No amount of grading rescues bad audio: if the speaker was recorded on the camera microphone from four metres away in a ballroom, the words will be muddy in the final film, however clean the picture. Noise reduction helps with hum and air-conditioning, not with echo or a second conversation over the top. Footage that is badly out of focus stays out of focus. Heavily compressed WhatsApp forwards will look like WhatsApp forwards on a large screen. Where the footage is not good enough for the placement, the honest answer is a short pick-up shoot, which is where social media reels or a half-day of new filming comes in, quoted as its own line.
How the video editing workflow runs for Dubai clients
Work starts with the footage arriving. A hard drive dropped off or couriered anywhere in Dubai, or a transfer link for anything under a few hundred gigabytes, along with the brand guidelines, the logo files, any music preference and a one-paragraph brief on what the film is for and where it will play. The footage is reviewed before a quote is written, which is the only way to know whether it is a two-day edit or a five-day rescue. The proposal comes back itemised within 24 hours of seeing it, listing each deliverable, the number of revision rounds and the turnaround. A deposit confirms the slot.
The first cut arrives as a private review link with timecoded comments turned on, so feedback is 'trim the pause at 0:42' rather than a paragraph in an email. One or two revision rounds are included depending on the project, and consolidating comments from everyone on your side into one round is the single biggest thing a client can do to keep the schedule. Once approved, the master is exported at full resolution, graded in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro, with titles from After Effects, and the vertical and square versions follow from the same timeline. How video editing is priced in Dubai: per deliverable, per day and turnaround
Editing is priced one of two ways. Per deliverable is the default: a highlight film, a set of six reels, a recut with new titles, each listed as its own line with its own revision allowance, so the invoice matches the brief. By the day suits agencies and in-house teams with a rolling pile of content who want an editor on a fixed day each week, or a block of days before a launch, with the deliverables agreed at the start of each day. Either way the footage is seen first. An hour of clean two-camera interview with lavalier audio and an hour of mixed phone clips from twelve people are not the same amount of work, and a price given blind is a guess that one side ends up paying for.
Full post-production projects, meaning an edit with grade, sound mix, motion titles, licensed music and a set of versions, land inside AED 2,000 to 7,000. The low end of that band is a single film with a grade, titles and a couple of placement versions; the top end is a recut of a long brand film with new graphics, a voiceover and a dozen versions. Smaller edit-only projects are quoted per deliverable and are not priced on this page, because the number depends on the footage. Turnaround is 2 to 5 working days for a single edit once the footage and brief are in, longer for recuts and multi-episode podcast batches, which are scheduled at booking. Can you edit footage we shot ourselves on phones?
Yes. Phone footage is a common edit-only brief. It is graded to a consistent look, stabilised where possible, captioned and cut into reels or a short film. The limits are audio and resolution: clips recorded in a noisy room or forwarded through WhatsApp lose quality that cannot be put back, and that is flagged after reviewing the footage, before the quote.
Which editing software do you use, and can we get the project files?
Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve for the cut and grade, After Effects for motion titles, Final Cut Pro when a client's existing project lives there. You keep every project file and master, in writing, so an in-house editor or another supplier can reopen the project later without starting again.
How do we send you the footage and review the cut?
Footage comes in on a hard drive couriered or dropped off in Dubai, or by transfer link for smaller projects, with brand files and a short brief. The first cut goes back as a private review link with timecoded comments, so notes land on the exact frame. One or two revision rounds are included depending on the project, then masters and versions are delivered by link.
How long does a video edit take?
Single edits take 2 to 5 working days from the day the footage and brief are in.
